چکیده

Abstract Objective Neurocysticercosis (NCC) is the most common parasitic disease of central nervous system. No stablished treatment exists for management subarachnoid NCC. We aim to present a minimally invasive procedure with basis on anterior Sylvian point (ASP) cistern Materials and methods Three patients histologically confirmed NCC followed targeted burr hole surgery reference ASP. prepared detailed description surgical cases. Results The three had favourable postoperative clinical radiological outcome without complications. approach related complications were observed as well. Postoperative cysticidal was required each patient. Conclusions ASP Further research determine safety effectiveness this approach.

Usefulness of ultrasonography with a burr-hole transducer during surgery through a burr hole.

Ultrasonography has become a common method for evaluation of the central nervous system. We present our experience with ultrasonography monitoring with a burr-hole transducer for investigation of intracranial lesions. Common indications for this technique included guidance for placement of catheters, localization of masses, aspiration of cystic lesion, and confirmation of removal. Postoperative...

Stereotactic Burr Hole Aspiration Surgery for Spontaneous Hypertensive Cerebellar Hemorrhage

OBJECTIVE Patients with severe spontaneous cerebellar hemorrhage typically undergo treatment with suboccipital craniectomy and hematoma evacuation. However, this is a stressful procedure for patients due to the long operating time and operation-induced tissue damage. In addition, the durotomy can result in pseudomeningocele. We investigated the efficacy of stereotactic or navigation-guided burr...

Simulation-based training for burr hole surgery instrument recognition

BACKGROUND The use of simulation training in postgraduate medical education is an area of rapidly growing popularity and research. This study was designed to assess the impact of simulation training for instrument knowledge and recognition among neurosurgery residents. METHODS This was a randomized control trial of first year residents from neurosurgery residency training programs across Cana...

A comparative study of treatments for chronic subdural hematoma: burr hole drainage versus burr hole drainage with irrigation.

Although chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is one of the most common entities encountered in neurosurgical practice, optimal surgical treatment for CSDH remains controversial. This study retrospectively compared results for CSDH between burr hole drainage alone and burr hole drainage with irrigation. Ninety-two patients with CSDH underwent surgery at our institution from January 1998 through Dec...

The Efficacy of Titanium Burr Hole Cover for Reconstruction of Skull Defect after Burr Hole Trephination of Chronic Subdural Hematoma

OBJECTIVE Although burr hole trephination is a safe and effective surgical option to treat patients with chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH), it often results in a small but undesirable scalp depression from burr hole defect. This study is to evaluate the efficacy of titanium burr hole cover (BHC) for reconstruction of skull defects in these patients. METHODS A hundred and ninety-six cases of bu...
